Who We Are
The Northwest Arkansas Council is a private sector-led community development organization dedicated to improving the social and economic well being of our citizens. With the help of a large number of community organizations, and community leaders, we’re taking proactive measures to help:
- Improve our transportation system and water quality
- Increase our levels of educational attainment
- Cultivate and attract a diverse talent base
- Create the next generation of leaders
- Expand community health initiatives for underserved populations
- Create, expand and attract new investment to expand and diversify job opportunities
The NWA Council was organized in 1990 as a private, nonprofit regional development organization to promote the growth, vitality and development of Northwest Arkansas by applying the knowledge, creativity and leadership of its members to develop regional solutions that address the challenges and opportunities facing the region. From its beginning as an advocate for planning solutions that address these challenges and opportunities, the Council has been an active catalyst in uniting communities and organizations to accomplish regional goals and objectives.
In early 2010, regional leaders began to chart the course for continued success. The Northwest Arkansas Council, local Chambers of Commerce and other regional organizations, spearheaded an effort to create a regional growth and development plan. Together we are charting a course for the creation of the most dynamic growth region in the country.
