Fayetteville is the county seat of Washington County and the third largest city in Arkansas. It was established in the 1820s, first incorporated in 1836 and rechartered in 1867. Covering 55.2 square miles, Fayetteville has a charming town square, Dickson Street (the best-known entertainment district in the state), numerous historical buildings and homes, attractions such as the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, and the state’s flagship University of Arkansas.
