DINING in Northwest Arkansas is an experience to be savored. No matter what preference in food, there is a restaurant in the area – from down-home cooking to fine dining. NWA has a host of international restaurants where you can find Mexican, Greek, Italian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, sushi, Indian, and German dishes. Go to the “visitor’s bureau” website in each of the cities that make up the area for their list of restaurants and hotels.  NWA Restaurants Online or NWA Restaurants, your “virtual restaurant row,” are a way to explore restaurants within each major city in Northwest Arkansas. NWA Movies site lists all the theaters in the area and current showings.

SHOPPING experiences in the area include outdoor living centers, beautiful malls, vivacious downtowns, midtowns and uptowns.

The Northwest Arkansas Mall in north Fayetteville is an indoor shopping center and home to 100 specialty stores, in addition to a food court and the anchor stores: Dillard’s, J.C. Penney and Sears.  The adjacent Steele Crossing area is expanding with new restaurants, theaters, hotels and retail stores.  Shogun, a Japanese restaurant on a hill adjacent to the mall overlooking all of Fayetteville, is an architectural masterpiece.

Other notable shopping districts include Dickson Street, the Fayetteville Downtown Square and One Center Street Building, Nelson’s Crossing and Steele Crossing, and Fiesta Square.

Anchor stores include Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, Target, T.J. Maxx, Gordman’s, Malco 12-Screen Theatre, and there’s a unique collection of shops and restaurants that define taste and style. Restaurants include Mimi’s Cafe, Fish City Grill, P.F. Chang’s, and Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse.

Downtown Fayetteville is experiencing a rebirth. Block Street Business Association offers a variety of boutique shops. At the heart of all the development are the gardens of Downtown Square, a traditional common area where many public events are held each year, including the fabulous Fayetteville Farmers Market. Among the more noteworthy sights downtown are the Old Post Office in the center of the square, the Old Washington County Courthouse and Jail, and the historic Walker-Stone House (the oldest home in Fayetteville).

 

 

Downtown Bentonville is home to shops, restaurants and museums. Locally grown produce, crafts and handmade items are sold at the Bentonville Farmers Market on Saturdays in April-November.  The historic Walton Five & Dime is also located on the Bentonville square.

 

 

 

Historic Downtown Eureka Springs Take the trolley or stroll the streets of this storybook downtown district to browse boutiques, galleries and shops. Book a night at a bed and breakfast or reserve a luxury suite at a historic hotel and spa. Fine dining and casual eateries offer many options for all appetites and budgets.

 

Main Street Rogers The Main Street Rogers program is a branch of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is one of 19 Main Street communities in the state.  Stroll brick-lined streets, admire historic architecture, dine in one of many fine restaurants, or visit Frisco Park and the Frisco Line Railroad car.

Whether you’re looking for furniture or fine clothing, you can find it in The City of Springdale. West Springdale features Ozark Center Point Place, with more than 30 retailers in its corner at the intersection of I-540 and U.S. 412. Shoppers can find home furnishings,  arts & crafts supplies, western furniture, clothing, shoes, candy, perfume, home decor – just to name a few. A little further west and you’ll find the Shoppes at Har-Ber Village – Springdale’s newest shopping destination. The historic business district, downtown Emma Avenue, boasts stores with great products and longstanding ties to Springdale, as well as many antique shops and flea markets.

Siloam Springs has a vibrant downtown called Main Street Siloam, as well as shopping and dining along the Highway 412 corridor.  There are several new shopping center developments including, Time Square, Ravenwood Plaza, Sunrise Plaza and Tulsa Street Center.
