Arkansas agriculture is diverse in crops and in scale of production so, no matter what you are looking for, Arkansas farmers probably produce it. Visit your local farmers markets or check out the content provided at Arkansas Grown to find the freshest food available.
Arkansas Agritourism is more than visiting a farm… it’s teaching children the satisfaction of picking their own fruit. It’s uncovering hidden gems at a crafts fair or enjoying down-home cooking you just can’t get in the city. Agritourism offers out-of-the-ordinary experiences such as U-pick operations and farmers’ markets, winery tours, festivals and fairs, hiking, rock climbing, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. It gives families the opportunity to reconnect by slowing down from the stress of every day life to focus on enjoying each other.
Apple Seeds, Inc. is an organization creating a healthier, happier Northwest Arkansas by providing students with fun activities and instruction that encourages healthy eating habits at an early age. Since 2007 they have partnered with schools and organizations on programs both inside and outside the classroom. They believe that all children deserve good nutritional foods, healthy activity, and joy. Through the Apples in the Classroom program, Apple Seeds partners with schools and community organizations to establish activities – such as gardening clubs, healthy cooking classes, field trips to farms and farmers markets, and special presentations – that serve students and their families. Their focus is on participatory activities that are fun for students and engaging for their families.
