The Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas earlier today recognized the Northwest Arkansas Council’s CEO and president with its Community Excellence Award.

Mike Malone received the award at a conference in Springdale. The Northwest Arkansas Council’s work includes many efforts to better engage and support diverse population groups and newcomers to the region.

The Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 by a group of women, mostly Hispanic. Though predominantly Hispanic, the organization’s members come from many backgrounds, creeds and cultures and considers diversity one of its strengths.

The women’s organization works to enhance participation by Hispanics in the community by opening channels for better understanding across cultures and by bringing the diverse Northwest Arkansas community together.

The organization’s program sponsors include some of the region’s most important companies and nonprofit organizations. Walmart, Tyson Foods, Endeavor Foundation, the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation and The Walton Family Foundation are among those sponsors.

Special thanks to our major investors for their support of the Northwest Arkansas Council and our work in the region:
