Springdale Growth Ranks 6th in Review of 516 Cities

An analysis of data from 516 places ranked Springdale as the sixth fastest-growing U.S. city.

In its study, the research firm WalletHub focused on city-specific data rather than the metropolitan statistical area data that’s so often used in nationwide comparisons and rankings.

Springdale was one of four Arkansas cities included in the growth-focused evaluation that also considered data about Fayetteville (126th),  Fort Smith (260th) andLittle Rock (317th). Most of the data used was from 2008 to 2013.

The only cities to finish ahead of Springdale were the Texas cities of Mission (No. 1), Irving (No. 2) and Edinburg (No. 5) as well as North Charleston, S.C. (No. 3) and Greenville, N.C. (No. 4).

The study and evaluation of each city’s growth was based 10 criteria, including overall population growth, educational attainment increase, working-age population growth, unemployment rate decrease, uninsured rate decrease, median household income growth, job growth, poverty rate decrease, full-time to part-time jobs increasing, and growth of regional gross domestic product per capita. The data came from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
