American Tubing Expands, Adds New Jobs

American Tubing, Inc., a leading producer of copper assemblies and components for use in the air conditioning and refrigeration industries, announced today plans to expand its Northwest Arkansas operation to include the production of aluminum assemblies and components to meet growing demand.

The company, which is located in Springdale, is constructing a 20,000-square foot addition to its Ford Avenue plant to house aluminum production equipment. The project has an estimated cost of $3.2 million.  When completed, ATI will have 80,000 square feet of manufacturing area for copper and aluminum.

“We are extremely excited about this new product line,” said company president Chuck Lewis. “We have worked closely with our customers for the past two years to be ready for production in 2014.  Since 2008 business has been somewhat flat. Growing and innovating is what we do best.  It’s good to have too much to do again.”

“American Tubing’s decision to expand in Springdale rather than looking elsewhere confirms the quality and dedication of the company’s existing workforce,” said Grant Tennille, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “We appreciate American Tubing’s continued commitment to its Arkansas manufacturing facility.”

Once the addition is complete, American Tubing expects to add 50 employees, a 31 percent increase for the manufacturer with an estimated annual payroll increase of $1.35 million.

“This is more good news for Springdale,” says Mayor Doug Sprouse. “It’s great when we can announce new companies coming to town, but we love when we can celebrate growth by our existing, hometown businesses. American Tubing has been an outstanding Springdale employer for many years and this expansion allows the company to remain a major parts provider for the nation’s top air conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers.”

“American Tubing has been embraced by the City of Springdale,” said Lewis. “Any time you talk with Mayor Sprouse you leave with the mindset that he always hears you and will do the best he can for the City of Springdale and your concerns.

“American Tubing would very much like to thank the Mayor’s Office, the Planning Commission, and the Planning and Community Development Department for all their help to get this project underway,” added Lewis. “Having the Springdale Chamber of Commerce in your corner is also a great benefit in getting things done so you can continue to grow as a business.”

“This project means more jobs for our city and keeps Springdale as the job creation leader for the state of Arkansas,” says Perry Webb, President and CEO of the Springdale Chamber of Commerce. “American Tubing is a progressive Springdale employer that is taking the steps necessary to excel in a changing business environment. We are thrilled to play a role in helping American Tubing grow.”

American Tubing has been in operation since 1976. The company serves a diverse customer base, with its components also used in the defense and commercial industries.  American Tubing, Inc. is a subsidiary of National Tubing Holding, located in Birmingham, Ala.

“The employees of American Tubing would like to thank the National Tube Holding Board of Directors and Stockholders for their trust and financial support in this project,” said Lewis, “but the bottom line is this project is supported by our customers. We believe that the only way to succeed is to always be customer driven.

Special thanks to our major investors for their support of the Northwest Arkansas Council and our work in the region:
